Shams Ur Rehman has worked in the automotive parts trade since 1985, across Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Dubai, including twenty-four years with Gargash Enterprises. S N Auto Spare Parts Trading LLC is the company he founded on retirement, and it operates on the principles he applied throughout that career: supply the correct part, quote an honest price, and hold the relationship beyond the transaction.

Four decades in the trade

Mr Rehman entered the automotive parts business in 1985, beginning in Abu Dhabi before moving on to Sharjah and then Dubai. Those early years were spent learning a trade that rewards accuracy above all else — where the difference between the right part and a near-enough one is measured in a workshop’s lost day and a customer’s lost confidence.

In 1989 he joined Gargash Enterprises, one of the most established names in the UAE motor trade, and remained there for twenty-four years. He held responsibility for parts management and for government account relations before being appointed Parts Trade Development Manager, a role he held until his departure in 2013.

Retirement did not hold. He established S N Auto Spare Parts Trading LLC in 2013, working initially from a shared office. The Gargash group then brought him back, appointing him Consultant and General Manager at its sister company Al Dahiya, where he was given the task of establishing a new parts shop and workshop from the ground up.

When Al Dahiya closed, Mr Rehman continued trading from shared premises in Umm Ramool between 2019 and 2022, while S N Auto Spare Parts Trading remained his own company throughout. He then moved to his own unit at Warehouse 5 in the same district, and trades today from Al Raeesi Complex, Umm Ramool.

In 2023 the company entered into partnership with Wolf Oil, the Belgian lubricant manufacturer, adding a full lubricants programme alongside its parts business.

Career milestones

• 1985 Enters the automotive parts trade

  Begins in Abu Dhabi, later moving to Sharjah and then Dubai.

• 1989 Joins Gargash Enterprises

  Holding responsibility for parts management and government account relations.

• 2011 Appointed Parts Trade Development Manager

  Leading parts trade development across the group until 2013.

• 2013 Founds S N Auto Spare Parts Trading LLC

  Established on leaving Gargash after twenty-four years, operating initially from a shared office in Dubai.

• 2015 Consultant and General Manager, Al Dahiya

  Returns to the Gargash group at its sister company, commissioned to establish a new parts shop and workshop.

• 2019 Trading from shared premises, Umm Ramool

  The company operates from shared premises in the district while building its own customer base.

• 2022 Moves to Warehouse 5, Umm Ramool

  The company takes its own premises and continues to trade independently.

• 2023 Wolf Oil partnership

  A lubricants programme is added, supplying OEM-approved oils alongside the parts business.

• Today Al Raeesi Complex, Umm Ramool

  The company trades from its current premises, supplying workshops, fleets and trade buyers across the UAE and for export.

How the company trades

Two principles govern the business, and both come directly from its founder.

Trust before margin. Customers are told which grade of part they are being offered — genuine, OEM or aftermarket — and what it will and will not do. Where a lower-cost option is the sensible answer, that is what is recommended. A quote that wins on price but fails in service costs more than it earns.

Partnership on both sides. The same standard applies upward to suppliers as it does outward to customers. A supply relationship that benefits only one party does not last, and a business built on lasting relationships does not need to win the same customer twice.

The company today

S N Auto Spare Parts Trading LLC is a family-run business operating from Al Raeesi Complex, Umm Ramool, Dubai. It supplies original and OEM parts for European light and heavy vehicles, with particular depth in Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Volvo, Scania and MAN, together with lubricants, batteries, refinish materials and automotive protection products.

Customers range from independent workshops and body shops to fleet operators and government departments, with export shipments to the wider Gulf, Africa and South Asia.
